GWUPS Card Game is an easy to learn, timeless game system that allows you to play traditional card games, guess other players cards orientations, match soulmates, and play a variety of games. At its most basic, it is a matching game, but aside from just matching numbers or card suits, players pair cards into couples based on gender and preferences. It is both a strategy game and one that involves the luck of the draw, so it’s ideal for beginners as well as experienced players. All you need is a sense of fun and competitiveness.

The Creator: Lionel
GWUPS was conceived in New York, developed in New Jersey, and had its public debut at the New York Comic Convention in April 2008, just as its website went live.

The mastermind behind the game is Lionel, who wanted to create an easy, fun game based on real life. He holds a top-honors Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the Philippines, and came to the United States in 2000 to work as an IT consultant. GWUPS LLC is a start-up, family-owned business.

The Name
The name GWUPS comes from and is a transliteration of the Cebuano slang “gwaps,” which is a friendly acknowledgment of a beautiful and good person, male or female.

The Game Plays
GWUPS Card Game is mostly a matching game for 2 or more people that involves luck, memorization, and strategy—and lots of fun. It’s ideal for parties because it’s easy to learn, fun to play, and great for a group.

Each deck has 67 cards with 14 distinct faces. They are divided into Person cards, which represent all sexual orientations (straight male, straight female, gay male, gay female, and so on), and Chance cards, which represent some of life’s chances (soul mate, death mate, etc.)

"Guess What's My Orientation" is one of the game plays which objective is to attain the highest total score by guessing other players cards while best concealing own card by gradually disclosing orientation facts.

Another game play's objective is to collect the most Couples and Exes by making matches. Soulmate and deathmate matches are also possible. Players can also earn titles like The Match-Maker, or The Player, and when combining decks, you open the possibility of experiencing Fairy Tales, Tragedies, and other events. Just like in real life, the possibilities are limitless.

As an added bonus, GWUPS cards can also be used to play traditional card games like Poker, BlackJack, Solitaire, Rummy, and more.
